The Baldwin swim team competed against Shaler yesterday, resulting in a win for the girls team but a loss for the boys team.

Junior Gabi Moder said that the team competed strongly at the meet.

“We did well keeping up with our best times after a really tough week of practices,” Moder said.

Moder also congratulated her teammate, junior Alayna Kercher, for dropping her swimming time after finishing the 500 freestyle.

Although the boys team suffered a loss, sophomore Spencer Maist said they are always there for each other, even when the races do not go their way.

“No matter who is swimming or what event it is, there are always people cheering each other on,” Maist said.

On the boys end, the struggle came from the absence of some of their usual swimmers.

“As long as everyone swims hard, our team is able to get past the roadblock of having missing swimmers,” he said.

The team’s next meet is at home Thursday, January 12th against Plum at 6 pm.
