Baldwin’s Rocket League esports team won its playoff game Thursday against Knoch, but the Valorant team lost to Central Bucks South, so their season has come to an end.

The Rocket League team fought for their win to progress in the playoffs.

“The games were close. We won, but they were a fairly competitive team,” Coach Nathan Elias said, “We did pretty well with our passing plays and working together to create opportunities to shoot”

Elias said senior Dylan Stone performed well at the game.

“Right off the bat he made good saves in critical moments,” Elias said.

Senior Mark Migale agrees that Knoch was a challenging opponent, but thinks Baldwin performed skillfully.

“I think they had a few chances and they just didn’t score,” Migale said, “I think everyone did well.”

After the win, the team feels that they will be able to advance to the finals.

“We already played the team that won overall last year,” Elias said. “We did lose, but it was a very winnable game. We’ll definitely have to be ready for that for the finals.”

The next match is the quarterfinals. The opponent has not been decided yet.

The Valorant team, meanwhile, reflected on its season after the playoff loss to Central Bucks South.

“For next season, we need to improve every aspect of the game to compete with teams like that,” Elias said. “The game was not close. We ran into a very good team and they got us pretty good.”
