The Baldwin Highlander Marching Band placed second in PIMBA Championships over the weekend, earning a score of 85.7, the highest PIMBA score the band has ever received.

Senior drum major and snare player Nolan Dowling praised the band’s performance.

“I think they did great. They put in everything they had,” Dowling said.

This event was special for him, since it was his final PIMBA competition.

“I did well for my last performance, and I put in everything I had,” he said.

Senior color guard member Mary Swinsinski gave a shout out to senior Alyssa Holby, who is a drum major and four-year member of the marching band.

“She did a phenomenal job conducting in the front field,” Swinsinski said.

Sophomore alto saxophone player Aidan Simler said the band earned that second-place finish in the class.

“We worked so hard and I feel we deserved the score we got,” Simler said. “Two out of 6 (bands) is great.”

Junior tenor saxophone player Julianna Lang agreed.

“It really shows how our hard work pays off, and how much goes into performing a show,” Lang said.
