The Baldwin boys ice hockey team won against Canon-McMillan on Tuesday, 2-1.

Freshman Nathan Buys scored a goal early in the game to put Baldwin up by one.

“Nate did a good job getting pucks to the net and just shooting,” senior Levi McCrea said.

Canon-McMillan later tied it up, but McCrea scored and put Baldwin back in the lead for good.

“It was 1-1 at the time, so it definitely was a confidence booster,”  McCrea said.

Senior goalie Alex Golvash stood out during the game by saving 39 of the 40 shots on goal.

“Alex did a good job facing all of the shots that he took, controlling rebounds, and getting us whistles whenever needed,” McCrea said.

McCrea said it was an important win for the team.

“We are very resilient and it was a team effort compared to our last game,” he said, referring to a 5-1 loss to Cathedral Prep.

The team has high hopes for Baldwin’s next game against Seneca Valley at Ice Castle on Monday.

“We have to keep building off from the momentum we got from that win and I look forward to the rest of the season,” McCrea said.
