The Netflix biopic Blonde is not an adequate portrayal of Marilyn Monroe’s life behind the glitz and glamour.

The Netflix biopic Blonde is not an adequate portrayal of Marilyn Monroe’s life behind the glitz and glamour.

The film has mediocre acting. It also has excessive nudity, which might have been used to convey the deeper meaning of the story, but still makes it uncomfortable to watch. It also is doing a disservice to Monroe, since the film is dealing with her abusive childhood and hard life behind the scenes of her films, and she is topless the majority of the time.

Ana Celia de Armas Caso, the actor who plays Monroe in the film, is either crying or naked throughout the film, basically making it borderline pornography.

The film is also strictly sad and depressing, hardly incorporating any of Monroe’s nice qualities. Understandably, the film is trying to be as realistic as possible; however, there is nothing wrong with representing a bit of brightness from her life.

The excessive reliance on crying and nudity makes it more of a drama than a biopic of Monroe’s life. Hollywood should just let the woman rest in peace because this film disgraces her image further than it ever has before.
