Senior Emma Overlingas and junior Gabi Moder won their first match of WPIAL tennis doubles playoffs on Thursday but lost in the second match.

The first match was against Franklin Regional.

“They were the fourth seed, and we won 10-5,” Overlingas said.

Moder and Overlingas have been double partners all season long.

“We were more consistent and had better communication. We were also more confident in our shots,” Overlingas said.

The second match resulted in a 10-4 loss against Mount Lebanon.

“I wish we were more positive when we were down or lost points,” Overlingas said.

Last year these two were in the same position but were not as successful.

“We made it to WPIALs last year but didn’t win a match, so it definitely feels good to do better this year,” Overlingas said.

Being a senior, Overlingas’ high school tennis career has come to an end, but she is looking to play in college.

“Allegheny and Westminster are colleges that I have looked at and emailed their coaches about their teams,” Overlingas said.
