Despite some strong winds, the girls tennis team shut out Woodland Hills on Monday, 5-0.

Junior Gabi Moder said the team remained consistent during the matches, while combating the wind.

“It was tough but we got around it by hitting safe shots and using good footwork,” Moder said.

Both Moder and senior Rachel Zgurich agree that the doubles team performed well during the match.

“The doubles team’s net play was strong,” Zgurich said.

As the season progresses, the team continues to play more consistently and stronger.

“Everyone has been working consistently throughout the year and (the team) has been getting better,” Zgurich said.

Moder said Woodland Hills is not typically a tough competitor, but they did play consistently.

Despite the win, Moder said “the team could always improve on volleying and playing the net.”

The next match is today at Oakland Catholic.
