Junior Gabrielle Moder faced Mount Lebanon’s top player Wednesday in WPIAL singles competition, but she fell short of qualifying for championships.

“I have not played against (her) before so it was a new experience,” Moder said.

Moder lost the match 10-7. The scoring at WPIAL singles is that the winner is the first to reach 10 with at least a two-point lead.

“I’m happy that I got the chance to make it this far,” Moder said.

Moder has a few more section matches left this season and is excited to head into section doubles next week.

She plans to push through the rest of this season and next season for another chance at WPIALs next year.
