The Baldwin boys golf team lost their match 205-185 against Thomas Jefferson at Butler’s Golf Course on Tuesday.

“It’s a head game,” senior Carson Gregg said, highlighting the mental challenges required to successfully compete in a round of golf.

Gregg said he had a successful personal round, despite the team’s loss.

“I was two under through four holes,” he said.

Gregg noted that each member of the Baldwin team has their personal strengths and weaknesses on each hole. For him, his first drives off of the tee provide better results than his putting, he said.

Despite the loss, Gregg said the match went well.

“We had a couple of mistakes in the middle, but (we were) really solid by the end,” Gregg said.

Gregg acknowledged the talent of the opposing players, saying that it was challenging for the Baldwin players to match them. Thomas Jefferson’s junior Hayden Feth recently qualified for WPIALs.

“TJ just has a well-rounded team,” Gregg said. “They all shoot low, and they know the course really well”

The boys’ last match is next Thursday against Upper Saint Clair at South Hills Country Club.
