Senior Jacob Lubawy had a big senior rec night, scoring five goals and earning his 100th career point as the boys lacrosse team defeated Canon Mac 13-8 on Thursday for the team’s first win of the season.

“It was a great experience – especially with how rough our season has been – to finally get a win. To do so on our senior night made the whole thing 10 times better,” senior Zach Meszaros said.

The teams were evenly matched until the third quarter of the game, when Baldwin started to pull away. Lubawy and senior Colton Tamburri stood out in the game, Meszaros said.

“Colton Tamburri found his rhythm. He made some big plays and got some huge goals,” Meszaros said.

Lubawy, meanwhile, hit that career milestone.

“I had to get four more points yesterday to reach 100 points, and it was better to get it on senior rec since it was our first win,” Lubawy said.

Meszaros applauded Lubawy’s achievement.

“It was a special moment for the whole team, especially for the seniors. We have been talking about him getting to 100 this year and for him to finally reach it was a good experience,” Meszaros said.
