Boys volleyball reaches quarterfinals in tournament

The boys volleyball team lost in the quarterfinals of a tournament at Seneca Valley over the weekend.

The team competed against multiple schools, winning against Plum and then losing to Norwin.

The team did well with hitting and blocking, which they had been working on. Sophomore Rohan Bhattarai said that though they played well, there was still room for improvement.

“It was nice to make it to the quarterfinals, but we know we could have done better,” he said.

Senior Marshal Rai said that a repeating complication this season so far has been how the team handles serves.

“We could do better with receiving serves. I think that was one of our main weaknesses,” Rai said.

Rai also feels that the team needs to work on improving its energy level.

Meanwhile, the team also lost to Upper Saint Clair on Thursday night. The Highlanders lost 3-0, with the scores being 25-20, 25-17, 25-23.

Bhattarai said the team performed well, but needs more practice.

Some of the standout players were Luke Campana and Niraj Thapa.

“Luke was making smart decisions and Niraj was getting a kill on every set I gave him,” Bhattarai said.

Their next game is at home on Tuesday against Moon Township.
