The boys varsity baseball team beat Thomas Jefferson on Thursday, 6-1.

This makes the team 4-1 on the season.

Sophomore Adam Ledbetter went three for four at the plate with three RBIs. Another standout player was senior Jonathan Rauch, who went two for four batting and had one RBI.

“We just need to keep rolling, and keep playing with the same intensity,” Rauch said. “But we need to also treat every game like we have everything to lose,” he said.

Rauch said that not only is the team batting well, but the pitchers have stepped up big time this season as well.

“Our pitching has been great so far. The pitchers have taken a step forward so far this season and are helping us win games,” he said.

Ledbetter said that the bench has continued to play a factor in their games as well.

“The bench is really doing a good job. They’re cheering us on and they are getting under our opponents’ skin,” he said.

Ledbetter is the only sophomore on the varsity squad.

“It is hard knowing I’m the youngest because it feels like I have to prove myself to the older guys, but I think I proved myself on the field yesterday,” he said.

The boys get back in action on Monday at home against Norwin. The game begins at 4 p.m.
