Sea Girl’s second album, Homesick, provides songs with good beats that indie-rock listeners are sure to enjoy.

The first track, “Hometown,” sets the tone for the album. It has classic indie-rock musical composition and touches on similar topics that others do. Though there are similarities, the vocals and unique lyrics set it apart from others.

Many of the songs touch on ideas of love and romance. “Someone’s Daughter Someone’s Son,” “I Got You,” and “ Lonely” all center around these ideas. With intriguing vocals and instrumentals, the songs are a pleasant listen.

One problem with the album as a whole is that it suffers from many of the songs sounding similar. Though some may claim that is the fault of the genre, other indie-rock artists have been able to change the sounds. It does not detract from the album, but varying the sound would improve it greatly.

Overall, fans of the Arctic Monkeys and of the indie-rock genre in general are sure to enjoy Homesick even if it isn’t the most original.
