The boys tennis team lost 5-0 to Allderdice on Monday.

Although they suffered a loss, the doubles teams of juniors Nathaniel Philips and David Werner in particular put up a good fight against Allderdice.

“I got to play with my friend for the first time which was pretty nice. I think we did pretty good out of our whole team. We did the best even though we took a loss that day,” Philips said.

Werner said the main reason for their loss was due to a lack of communication.

“There needs to be better communication. There were a lot of misunderstandings,” Werner said.

Allderdice kept the Baldwin team on its feet with their unexpected tactics.

“The guys we played had a weird serve, so I would try and study their serve more and adjust from there – maybe move forward a little bit, get back, or stay in a certain zone,” Philips said.

The boys tennis team has high hopes for its match Wednesday against Fox Chapel.

“I know they are good and I am not too familiar with Fox Chapel to be honest, but if I am playing doubles with my friend again then I think we do have a shot, but we will see. We had a rough start to the season, but it will get better as it goes along,” Philips said.
