Selection Sunday for college basketball March Madness brought some surprises.

Indiana was a team everyone expected to be a sleeper among the middle of the pack teams, but only made it into the play-in game as a 12 seed in the East Region.

Many people believed that they deserved the seed Michigan got, as they beat the Wolverines earlier in the season. Indiana was also thought by many to make it further in the tournament, but with them only being in the play-in game and having to play St. Mary’s in the first round, it’s possible that the Hoosiers will not go as far as

Bryant is another team that looked great going into Selection Sunday, but only managed to get into a play-in game as the 16 seed.

Peter Kiss of Bryant looked amazing during the Northeast Conference tournament. He averaged about 25 points a game in Division 1 basketball. They are a team to watch out for: Although they would have to go up against the 1 seed Arizona, they could make a Cinderella kind of run.

Fans trying to make the perfect bracket should avoid picking Texas Tech to make it far into the tournament.

The Red Raiders may seem like a top-tier team that could compete with many, but their record against ranked opponents says otherwise. They have struggled against higher-tier opponents all year and are likely to fall early on into the tournament.

Another team that is a bad choice to be a contender is top seed Arizona.

The Wildcats are led by a first-year head coach, which could be trouble, since inexperienced coaches have struggled to make good runs in the tournament. Arizona also is rarely this good and this seems to be just a fluke year – or this coach may really be legit and prove everyone wrong.

Some favorites that are predicted to win the tournament are Gonzaga and Baylor.

Gonzaga is obviously the front runner as they have potential number one pick Chet Holmgren as well as another top big man, Drew Timme. They have the weapons to win it all, as they have experience from last year, having made it to the championship game, where they ultimately lost to Baylor, another team that has great odds to win it all.

Baylor makes the experience topic seem more real. They won the national championship last year and definitely don’t have as good of a team as last year. But with their experience, they still have the tools needed to win it all again.
