Cruel Santino’s Subaru Boys: Final Heaven is an addictive, other-worldly Afropop experience.

The features on this album range from big names such as Koffee and Skepta to surprising multiple features from indie pop artist Gus Dapperton.

Cruel Santino and others in his niche have built up a futuristic, African-drum inspired sound many have gotten familiar with. Sonically this project is ahead of many released this year.

The album starts off strong with “I told Gus I’m Dreamin,’ ” a fun dance track with a summer vibe. “Mermaid Aqua” is another track with the feeling of summer. It also features lyrics in another language and a child backing vocalist, who effectively adds to the vibrant energy of the track.

The first of two Gus Dapperton featured tracks, “Beautiful Nothing” is a very groovy song. The repeated synth throughout the song aids the rhythm and brings the song together.

“Fallin” is not only a catchy song, but it also samples an iconic drum-break loop heard in Kendrick Lamar’s “Sing About Me…”. Its calm, repetitive nature makes the song go by so fast. It leaves listeners lost in time, enjoying the tune.

Overall, this album will inevitably make listeners dance at least once.
