Fans of the controversial and experimental artist JPEGMafia who have wanted to hear the single “Hazard Duty Pay!” on streaming services will be happy that he has officially released the Offline! EP, which was previously only available via Bandcamp.

It’s in-your-face and bold nature combined with its soulful sampling make “Hazard Duty Pay” one of his best songs in recent years.

This project, compared to his others, has much more emphasis on utilizing sample loops mostly seen in boom-bap style production.

“Dikembe!” begins like a metal song, but then listeners are hit with a huge wave of familiarity when the iconic sample used in the hip-hop classic “Runnin’,” by The Pharcyde, begins looping. The way he flips the sample is a notable highlight of the album.

“God Don’t Like Ugly!” displays how easy rap comes for him. He nonchalantly floats over a simple loop of a church choir with no drums or hook.

“100 Emoji!,” instead, samples vocals from late Memphis rapper Young Dolph’s song titled “100 Shots” to serve as a rap performance over his production. The completely left-field song is a simple, groovy track many can appreciate.

“Untitled” is nothing less than a banger. This is JPEGMafia’s spin on trap music in a more experimental manner. The song is filled with witty and provocative bars that his fans all know and love.

Those unfamiliar with JPEGMafia can listen to this project and get an idea of his sound.

This EP’s versatility covers almost all of his styles in under 15 minutes and is an enjoyable experience.
