Marry Me is light hearted and fun, even though it has a cliched and expected plot. Some scenes are exaggerated but add to the movie’s drama.

Peacock’s highly promoted movie Marry Me, featuring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, is only worth watching once.

The movie revolves around a pop star, Kat Valdez (Jennifer Lopez), who is about to get married to her fiance in front of 20 million fans. Right before she hits the stage, a cheating scandal involving her fiance leaks, resulting in an on stage meltdown.

In a moment of heartbreak, Kat impulsively marries the first man who she sees in the crowd, Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson).

After their public marriage, Kat and Charlie agree to stay in a relationship, since it could be beneficial for the both of them. However, as Kat’s life as an international superstar and Charlie’s as a math teacher begin to collide, their growing romance becomes challenged.

Marry Me is light hearted and fun, even though it has a cliched and expected plot. Some scenes are exaggerated but add to the movie’s drama. The actors are also well suited for their roles, especially Owen Wilson’s portrayal of a divorced single dad.

In addition, the movie features a scene with backup dancers in provocative nun costumes, making the movie’s PG-13 rating questionable. It was unnecessary and could be offensive to some viewers.

The soundtrack, however, doesn’t offer anything special and the lyrics are often cringeworthy. To viewers, the songs could seem like a huge promotion for Jennifer Lopez’s singing abilities.

Overall, Marry Me is predictable, but is a heartwarming movie, featuring romance, comedy, and music.
