The boys bowling team placed eighth in the WPIAL championship on Wednesday, only one place short of qualifying for regionals.

The Highlanders were 82 total pins away from qualifying for the regionals. Only the top seven teams move on.

Junior David Werner complimented his team members for their performance, particularly those who entered the championship with lower overall averages.

“The players that were less ranked on the team did really well based on their averages,” Werner said.

Overall, the team was successful this year, placing second out of six teams in the section.

“The season’s been fun. I’ve been getting progressively better each season. I finished in the top 10 of our division, and I think everyone did a really good job this year,” junior Nolan Malloy said.

Malloy praised the team’s performance and noted the importance of teamwork.

“Baldwin did a lot better this year. We had the same record, but our performance this year was better than last year. It was a group effort,” Malloy said.
