The Baldwin boys basketball team clinched a playoff spot by defeating Peters Township on Tuesday night, 71-59.

The varsity boys basketball team has not been in the playoffs for several years.

“It felt good because it will be the first time the (players on this) team have been in the playoffs, even our seniors. So it felt good to get that for them,” sophomore Nathan Richards said.

Baldwin was in the lead for most of the game, and at the beginning of the fourth quarter the team started to pull away.

“We did a really good job of sharing the ball and just getting to the hoop,” Richards said.

Richards said senior Connor Gitzen played a good game.

“He really helped us out with rebounds and changed the whole pace of the game,” Richards said.

The team’s next game is Friday against Bethel Park at home.
