Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence) are astronomers who spot an asteroid the size of Mount Everest heading towards Earth.

If the asteroid were to hit, it would cause the human race to become extinct. The two astronomers agree to set out on a media tour to warn all of mankind, but the problem is that no one seems to care.

For the most part, if it wasn’t for the A-List cast of this movie, many viewers wouldn’t be as drawn to watch it as quickly. Seeing so many familiar faces making up the cast adds a surreal experience while watching.

The movie acts as a satire and calls humanity out regarding the drastic effects of climate change.

Although the message promotes a good cause, it has created controversy because of its political stance. Due to the movie’s obvious mockery of the U.S. government, some viewers have not been happy, saying it takes away from the main message of awareness towards climate change.

But Don’t Look Up brings awareness and draws the audience to pay closer attention to the leaders of the world today, which might not be such a bad thing after all.
