The ice hockey team got back into the win column with a 6-0 victory over Cathedral Prep on Tuesday.

Sophomore Tanner Plinta scored two goals. Other goals were scored by seniors Dom Trimbur, and Trevor Belak as well as juniors Joey Stanick and Ben Cramer.

Eddie Nowicki stopped all 18 shots for his second shutout of the season.

“Our last two games were against really good teams and we put up a good fight, but the win yesterday really put us back on track,” Nowicki said.

Nowicki said that getting his second shutout of the season not only helps him but the whole team.

“It is a good feeling,” Nowicki said. “I know it gives me and the team more confidence.”

Plinta said the offensive play by the team was great.

“We were very aggressive in our offensive zone,” Plinta said. “We had to change up our game plan and it worked.”

The Highlanders remain in fourth place in the division with 15 points.

The Highlanders’ next game will be after the Christmas break on Jan. 3 against Bethel Park at 9 p.m. at Ice Castle.
