The varsity ice hockey team snapped a three-game winless streak by defeating Peters Township 4-2 on Thursday night.

Goals came from seniors Xander Aul, Dom Trimbur, and Trevor Belak as well as junior Joey Stanick. Goalie Eddie Nowicki stopped 34 of the 36 shots he faced last night.

“It was a big win for us last night,” Trimbur said. Having it come “against one of the better teams in the league is a big boost for us.”

Trimbur said the Highlanders benefited from changes they made heading into the game.

“We changed some of our systems and we had made different lines because of the lack of scoring,” Trimbur said.

Teamwork also was key.

“I thought the effort from everyone who played had their own role and donated to the win,” Trimbur said.

The hockey team next takes the ice Nov. 9, against Canon-Mac at 9 p.m at Printscape Ice arena.
