Sophomore Nico DeLallo scored a last-minute goal to lead the boys lacrosse team to a 9-8 win  over Hempfield on Thursday.

The game was close, with neither team securing a sure lead at any point.

“Nico DeLallo (scored) a clutch goal in the end,” junior Colton Tamburri said. “I scored a goal with about two minutes left and Nico came through with that last goal”.

With a 2-4 record, the team is excited by this win.

“It’s a big morale boost.” Tamburri said.

Some team members were absent from the game, leaving the team’s defense unsteady.

“We’re going to need all our kids,” Tamburri said.

Several Highlanders had big games.

“Lucas Shandor and Shawn Ryan really held it down,” Tamburri said.

If the team is to earn a winning record, its defense must be improved.

“(We need) communication skills,” Tamburri said.
