Track defeats Thomas Jefferson, West Mifflin

Sajan Dangal and Carson Chapel

Both the boys and girls track teams won their meets against Thomas Jefferson and West Mifflin on Monday.

For the girls, senior Gina Bolla finished first in the mile and first in the two-mile.

The girls 4×800 meter relay team also won its event, further boosting the overall score for the girls team.

For the boys, senior Zach Wyse came in first in the 1600, 3200, and as part of the 4×800 relay. Wyse also came in second place as part of the 4×400 relay.

Junior Kevin Weber and senior Joey Kosslow also helped push the boys team to victory, Wyse said.

“The team secured the win when sophomores Andrew Barret and Phillip Peger during the 800 came in first and second, gaining an additional eight points and locking the win,” Wyse said.

The teams targeted fundamentals because they finally had a section race after many cancelations.

The boys and girls track teams are focused going into next week as they are slated to compete against Bethel Park, Peters, Upper Saint Clair, and Mount Lebanon.
