The baseball team defeated Upper Saint Clair on Monday, 6-5.

The game was intense, senior Connor Lavelle said.

“We made some mistakes that made it more difficult for us to win, but overall we played very well,” Lavelle said.

This game made the team’s section record 2-3.

“We played very well. We just need to clean up our act a little bit and I have full confidence in our team to win,” senior Michael Sabo said.

Junior Jon Rauch hit a two-run double for the Highlanders.

One big turning point came when USC had the bases loaded in the sixth inning. Junior Dominic Stanziano came in as a relief pitcher and was able to save the inning with a force out at home plate.

“Dom pitched very well, we all took a breath of fresh air after that inning,” Sabo said.

The team has another game against USC at 4 p.m. today at home.
