The varsity girls softball team defeated Peters Township 9-2 in their first section game on Friday.

The girls played solid defense, and that was a major help in securing the win, sophomore Grace Schumacher said.

“In my opinion, I think we played super well overall,” Schumacher said.

Schumacher said two players really stood out in this past game.

“Our pitcher did absolutely amazing,” Schumacher said, referring to junior Brookelle Holby.

“Keira Platz did an absolutely phenomenal job catching and didn’t let anything get past her,” Schumacher added.

Junior right-fielder Alexa Flavell also made key catches in the outfield that helped secure the win.

Although the girls won, there is always room for improvement, Schumacher said.

“I think we could improve on picking better pitches to hit to get more solid hits,” Schumacher said.

The team’s current record is now 2-2 and their next game is today at Canon McMillan.
