Boys varsity baseball scored another huge victory on Friday, defeating Bethel Park 13-9.

Baldwin had not defeated Bethel Park for several years. This big win came on the heels of last Wednesday’s win against Norwin. Both opponents are considered among the best in the WPIAL.

This was the team’s third win of the season, evening their overall record at 3-3.

“We hit the baseball well and played as a team,” senior Michael Sabo said.

Sophomore Carson Chapel went two for three with two walks, a single, a home run, and four RBIs.

The game was all not smooth sailing, however.

“We were up 10-1, but Bethel ended up rallying back,” Sabo said. “Luckily we were able to shut them down.”

The Highlanders held on for the victory — even though it went right down to the last batter.

“It was the bottom of the seventh inning, bases loaded, two outs and a full count,” Sabo said. “The Bethel batter grounded out.”

The team has an away game today against Hempfeild.
