Boys volleyball loses to Canon Mac

The boys’ volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss against Canon Mac yesterday, leaving the team with a 1-3 record.

Senior George Makhoul said the team has had an uphill battle due to their varsity inexperience and the loss of an entire season last year due to the pandemic.

“It’s been a tough season because we didn’t have one last year. We’ve also been going through a lot of internal growth because we have zero returning varsity starters, so we’re all trying to step up into new spots,” Makhoul said.

Makhoul said the team did have a good “next man up” mindset despite the loss.

“We were missing Gavin Poe, who is a crucial player, and we were able to fill in well in his position, which was good to see because you never know when there’s going to be a player missing under the circumstances,” Makhoul said.

Makhoul also said the inexperienced team has a lot of potential.

“We had a big win against Moon on Tuesday after falling down two sets, and that showed what we are capable of as a team,” Makhoul said.

The boys will look to get back on track next Thursday away against South Fayette.
