The Baldwin varsity hockey team beat West Allegheny 4-0 on Monday night, giving the team a 14-0 record for the season.

Juniors Xander Aul, Logan Picchi, Carson Kress, and Joey Antonio all scored.

Goalie Eddie Nowicki, who got the shutout, said it was one of the team’s best games of the year.

“I think yesterday we did especially good on our power play. The team was able to put some pucks in the net in some big situations,” Nowicki said.

Nowicki also said the defense really stood out.

“They made the game so much easier for me and were overall really solid,” he said.

Junior Nelson Buys agreed.

“Our defense was strong throughout the game, with Eddie backing us up in the net. I think that Lorenzo Shipley really stood out on defense,” he said.

Although everyone played a part in contributing to the win, Nowicki said that the team still needs to work on maintaining discipline and not take as many penalties.

Buys agreed.

“One thing we could work on as a team is showing up prepared to hold onto our undefeated record.”

The team will face Thomas Jefferson at 9:15 p.m. tonight at Ice Castle.
