Senior Keith Reed scored a hat trick as Baldwin’s ice hockey team remained undefeated with a 8-1 win over Armstrong on Monday night.

Goals also were scored by seniors Robbie Aranos and Joey Jacobs, as well as juniors Carson Kress, Xander Aul, and Logan Picchi. Junior Eddie Nowicki stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced.

Junior Lorenzo Shipley said that after a while, the Highlanders dominated the game.

“We had a slow start in the first period, but we got the momentum after the first few goals and the tempo of the game escalated from there,” Shipley said.

Reed’s hat trick was his second of the season.

“He’s a great player for us and a great leader to this team,” Shipley said.

Tempers flared near the end of the second period as a fight broke out after the whistle.

“It got pretty hyped up in the heat of the moment,” Shipley said. “Everyone was getting really anxious after what happened because the refs took 10 minutes to figure out all the penalties and ejections.”

Baldwin’s next game will be on the road on Dec. 15..
