The Baldwin ice hockey team held off Thomas Jefferson on Thursday night to win its second straight game.

Goals came from juniors Collin Kuch and Trevor Belak as well as seniors Keith Reed and Dylan Belak. Juniors Joey Antonio and Dom Trimbur earned assists.

Junior goalie Eddie Nowicki was strong in net, especially when TJ pulled its goalie for an extra attacker toward the end of the third period. He faced 33 shots on goal in the game.

Trevor Belak said the goals by Kuch and Dylan Belak boosted the team’s play.

“Honestly, Kuch’s goal was very important to get us going from the first period, and Dylan’s was big to finish it off for us in the third.”

Belak also praised Nowicki’s game.

“It definitely gave us life and made us want to keep going to not just win for ourselves, but to get it for him too, with all the effort and heart he left out there,” he said.

Junior Lorenzo Shipley said TJ’s late rally, in which they scored two third-period goals to make the score 4-3, began to put pressure on Baldwin.

“They were really putting on pressure on us in the third period, and when they scored two goals we woke up and we finished off the game.”

Baldwin’s next game will be on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Ice Castle.
