With pop music dominating the Top 100 charts, it doesn’t hurt to go back to the ’70s and ’80s and listen to some classic songs. And despite the ’80s being known for its pop songs, the decade was also known for its rock bands.

In 1987, the rock band Def Leppard released its third studio album, Hysteria, which would go on to becoming one of the best rock albums in history.

Hysteria became a major part of the new wave of British heavy metal. Their major crossover hits “Pour Some Sugar On Me” and “Gods of War” combine core rock elements such as guitar riffs with catchy choruses and a faster-paced singing, while “Love Bites” and the title track “Hysteria” offer more slower, melodic sounds.

Hysteria remains one of Def Leppard’s boldest yet most successful creations. The guitar-driven songs of the album still stand as some of the best rock songs from the decade.
