Daniel Ezra plays Spencer James, a talented football player who grows up in a poorer section of Los Angeles called Crenshaw, but then transfers to a wealthier one, Beverly Hills. 

The new opportunities and people in Spencer’s life also bring new adversity. Meanwhile, he also feels he is responsible for protecting his family and close friend, Coop.

The series is inspired by the life of pro football player Spencer Paysinger. 

Throughout the series, Spencer’s life is out of the ordinary, but that is what makes it such good television.
