Unified bocce team wins first match of season

Baldwin’s Unified Bocce team got its season off to a strong start by defeating Elizabeth Forward today, 3-2.

Baldwin has two bocce teams — a recreational team, which plays for fun, and a competitive team, which plays against bocce teams from other schools. All of the teams partner students with different abilities.

The competitive teams are in to win, but all teams also look to build friendships and respect.

“The team as a whole had a lot of fun,” senior Erin Mullins said.

The two schools each won two games, so they had to play a tiebreaker to decide the winner. That is when Baldwin came out on top, 3-2.

“Everyone was nervous at the start because this was the first game that the team played against another school,” sponsor Eric Jankowski said.
