The inline hockey team is headed to a championship series after defeating Hempfield 6-5 over the weekend in the semifinals.

The first game of the best-of-three championship series against Norwin will be on Sunday.

Baldwin went into last weekend’s final game of the Hempfield semifinal series tied one game a piece. Going into the third period, the game was tied 3-3, but senior Vinny Episcopo said the energy of the game shifted in that final period.

“We had a good momentum switch towards the end of the second period, after we scored a buzzer-beater to tie the game,” Episcopo said. “In the third period we were just able to take over.”

Senior Josh Sobieralski and junior Zakary Sealey both had hat tricks in the victory. Another contributor was senior James Dulya, who was in nearly the whole game.

“James Dulya played great, and Zak and Josh could really find the net,” Episcopo said.

In the title series against Norwin, Baldwin will be trying to capture its third championship win in a row.

“We want to come in hard and aggressive, and we have the momentum to win three straight this year,” Episcopo said.
