Junior Dylan Stokes qualified for two individual WPIAL events at a swim meet last week.

Stokes hit the WPIAL qualifying time in the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. He also is a part of a relay team that earlier qualified for the 200 freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay. The other members of that relay team are freshman Nolan Erimias, sophomore Kevin Weber, and senior Joey Weber.

Stokes said he is looking forward to the WPIAL competition.

“I’m excited to compete,” Stokes said. “I’m not too sure what to expect though.”

This is the first time Stokes has qualified in either of the individual events. He came close to making the 50 freestyle before, but this is his first time qualifying.

“I’ve really worked on my technique this year, and I’ve been swimming as much as I can,” he said.

WPIALs take place Feb. 27-8 at Pitt.
