The ice hockey team rolled to a dominating win on Monday, putting up 51 shots in a 10-2 win over Hampton.

The win extends the team’s season-opening unbeaten streak to eight games.

Eight different Highlanders scored goals: Keith Reed and Dom Trimbur scored two goals, while Joe Jacobs, Robbie Aranos, Zach Pender, Jimmy Duyla, Justin Pollard, Logan Picchi, each scored one.

Despite being undefeated, the Highlanders coming in were looking to improve in some aspects of their game.

“We knew coming in that we had to play better and we really showed it, playing with high intensity as well as playing as a team,” Dulya said.

The Highlanders were led by a great performance by Reed, who had two assists to go with his two goals.

“He played his heart out last night,” Dulya said.

The team’s next test will be when they participate in a January tournament in Cleveland. Although it has no effect on the regular-season standings, there will be some very good teams at the tournament.

“Even though it has no effect on the season, we are still going to play our best and give everything,” Dulya said.

The team’s next regular-season match is against Plum on Jan. 9.
