The long-awaited film adaptation of the John Green book Looking For Alaska has finally appeared — in the form of a Hulu original series. After years of fans waiting and wondering when the rumored film was going to be made, a short series based on the book has been released instead.

The series captures details that a short film could not. It really dives into the development and growth of characters, which would not have been able to be done as well if it were a film adaptation.

The series stays true to the characters and they are exactly how they were written in the book. Seeing these characters grow and develop through a screen is honestly more impactful than through a book.

The series also is loyal to the plot of the book and not many changes have been made. It is nostalgic to watch, since the book was so popular long ago and this genre of entertainment is more dated now. It would have been better if it was released years ago, during John Greeneā€™s prime, but then again this series is better than no adaptation at all.

Overall it is worth the watch for any fans of the book or the teen genre. It is well done enough for what it is and it is worth the eight hours of screen time.
