The boys cross country team placed third at the Mingo Classic “Pink Out” meet on Thursday.

The race was held at Mingo Creek Park. This meet is always an important one for the team because they run to support retired Coach Bonita “Bunny” Schmidt, who has battled cancer.

Schmidt attended the meet to support the cross country team. Sophomore Bobby Konesky said the team was motivated.

“It felt nice to run for her,” Konesky said. “We did well overall as a team.”

Konesky placed third for Baldwin and 25th overall. Sophomore Dominick Ditoro placed second for Baldwin and 16th overall, and senior Teddy Boehm placed first for Baldwin and 14th overall.

On the girls side, junior Gina Bola placed sixth overall and first for Baldwin.

The team’s next meet is on Thursday,

Konesky believes that the team has a good chance of making WPIALs.
