For the second straight year, the boys volleyball team is going to WPIAL playoffs.

Although Baldwin lost 3-0 to top-ranked Bethel Park on senior rec Thursday, the boys still picked up a playoff spot when Peters Township lost to Canon-Mac.

“After we heard the news, the team was very excited. But now we have a bigger challenge ahead that we need to focus on,” senior Tyler Gurchak said.

The Highlanders posted a 9-7 record overall and a 6-6 section record to secure the spot in the playoffs. They are projected to be the 12th seed in the WPIAL 3A playoffs.

“It’s been a fun season so far and we don’t plan on having it end early,” Gurchak said.

The Highlanders play in a tournament this Saturday at Our Lady of Sacred Heart. Even though those games don’t have any bearing on WPIALs, the boys are hoping to use the tourney as prep for the playoffs.
