In April 2018, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter made history, becoming the first black woman to headline a Coachella festival.

One year later, the singer has released a documentary detailing the work that went into that night, along with an album, HOMECOMING, featuring all the live performances from the festival.

The live album and the documentary serve as companion pieces to each other, but they can be experienced separately. As for the live album, the masterful sound mixing on every track makes it hard to imagine that what the listener is hearing didn’t come from a studio.

The live band and drumline featured on all the tracks are incorporated so expertly that they almost completely separate the songs from their original album versions, making this a truly unique piece of art.

For somebody who has been in the industry for 21 years, coming out with inventive music with as much quality as Beyoncé’s HOMECOMING can be really difficult. But this is an artist who has proven herself to be a true pioneer in the industry.
