Girls softball defeated Steel Valley 6-5.

The softball team came up with its biggest win of the season on Friday, defeating Bethel Park 1-0 to keep alive Baldwin’s hope of winning a fifth straight section title.

“It was the best game we played ever,” senior Addie Tagg said.

Tagg, who pitched a shutout, credited a team effort in the win.

“Our communication was on point,” Tagg said. “We didn’t let mistakes get us down and we won every inning.”

Junior Lexi Elk said the team was focused coming into this game after a tough loss to Canon Mac last week.

“Addie did a great job pitching and our defense was able to help out when we needed too,” Elk said.

Baldwin must defeat Brashear on Tuesday to stay tied for the section title with Bethel.

“We just have to treat Brashear like we treat any other team,” Elk said.

As for WPIAL playoffs, the team will learn where they are seeded Thursday when the bracket is released.
