Boys volleyball come out on top in non-section match

The boys volleyball team beat Gateway 3-0 on Monday night, and is now preparing to take on undefeated Bethel Park tonight.

Senior Tyler Gurchak said the matchup against Bethel is the biggest section game of the year, as the Blackhawks were the section champions last year.

“This team is undefeated, so we need to communicate well and work together if we want to come out on top,” Gurchak said.

Senior Jake Kemerer repeated how important communication is, and also said that Bethel is beatable.

“Bethel is robotic. They do the same thing year after year,” Kemerer said. “We are a more energetic and confidence-based team, and we have some momentum coming off of a dominant win yesterday.”

Kemerer said the main game plan is to play a complete team game, and to try to eliminate as many simple mistakes as possible, but to also play loosely.

The boys are 5-2 currently overall and 3-2 in section, and are trying to move up in the standings with a big victory tonight.
