Senior Grace DeLallo is offering a sweet deal for Baldwin students interested in helping a good cause.

DeLallo is orchestrating a fundraiser called “Cakes for Apes,” which aims to help the critically endangered Bornean orangutan.

“Not a lot of people know about it, and there should be more of a push for helping a species that is in danger of extinction,” DeLallo said.

DeLallo found out about the cause through an Instagram account dedicated to the International Animal Rescue organization, which aims to help endangered animals or any animals that are in need of help around the world.

The organization is running the international “Cakes for Apes” fundraiser for anyone willing to help raise money for the cause.

For Baldwin’s program, DeLallo will be selling $2 cupcake vouchers outside the cafeterias during lunch periods on April 23 and 24, DeLallo said.

The cupcakes will then be delivered on April 26 during first and second period. The cupcakes will be store bought or donated by the National Honor Society.

“I want to do what I can and raise awareness for a fundraiser that is important to me,” DeLallo said.
