The boys track team won and the girls track team split in a three-team meet on Tuesday.

The boys beat both Upper St Clair, 104 to 46, and Peters Township, 103.5 to 36 points.

Senior Brendon O’Malley said the boys performed even better than they expected.

“We were really strong in all areas,” O’Malley said. “A lot of freshmen did well and stepped up.”

Senior John Ziegler was also returning from an injury at the meet and showed good recovery.

“Overall, everybody performed really well,” O’Malley said.

The boys 4×100 team got disqualified, but the team as a whole still managed to pull out the two victories.

The girls won against Upper St Clair and lost against Peters Township despite facing several obstacles. Sophomore Gina Bolla said the Highlanders were missing several girls but still managed to place second.

The girls 4×800 team won its event. Bolla and senior Devon Schroeder finished first and second in the 3200 meter run. Sophomore Lena Barakat finished first in the 400 meter run.
