For senior Luke Smorey, appearing on WPXI’s Hines Ward Show as the positive athlete of the week on Sunday was “an amazing experience.”

The interview, hosted by Hines Ward himself, took place at the WPXI building.

“It was an amazing experience to meet Hines Ward. He shared a lot of knowledge with me about football while we were talking,” Smorey said. “You can tell he knows his stuff.”

Baldwin’s football team gained a lot of benefits from Smorey this season. From kicking to offense, Smorey was always a factor in the football team’s victories. He was considered one of the main reasons that Baldwin reached the playoffs this season.

Smorey said the TV appearance was great because it could help him obtain scholarships and open up other opportunities for him. It also offered a burst of excitement for Smorey as the track season approaches. Smorey won the WPIAL championship last year in javelin.
