The Baldwin ice hockey team capped off its home season with a dominant 9-0 win against Quaker Valley on Valentine’s Day.

Junior goaltender Tanner Cindrich earned his first varsity shutout with the win.

“It feels great, especially for my first year playing varsity. Gaining a shutout was even better,” Cindrich said.

Many other Highlanders had a hand in the rout.

Senior defenseman Ross Zofcin displayed his scoring ability by picking up a hat trick. Sophomore forward Keith Reed added two goals of his own. Also scoring for the Highlanders were seniors Andrew Golvash and Nathan Hobson as well as juniors Noah Fisher and Vincent Episcopo.

“We started off slowly with one goal in the first period, but then after the first intermission we erupted with six more goals in the second period” Cindrich said.

The ice hockey team has a strong attitude as the playoffs approach.

“We want to go in and show the others teams that Baldwin can score and that we can hang in with the top teams,” Cindrich said.
