After a back and forth, highly competitive game only a month ago, the St. E’s and St. Gabe’s CYO rematch on Thursday night was anything but close.

The Gators won 52-27 in dominating fashion on the road to claim the section crown.

Junior Dom George led the scoring with 13 points and displayed impressive moves to create separation, leading to George hitting every shot.

“He really stepped up and didn’t miss a shot,” senior guard Colton Barr said. “He came up big for us.”

Barr enjoyed playing with his team in such a highly anticipated game.

“The court’s a little small and it was more packed than some of our other games, so that was fun,” Barr said.

“It was definitely amped up,” senior forward Brandon Zenkovich said.  “I felt good when I was in there and the anticipation leading up to the game. We beat them on their home court, so that felt good.”

For St. E’s, the team will have to look to bounce back after the tough loss.

As the regular season winds down, both teams will be looking forward to the playoffs and future success.

St. Gabe’s improved to 15-0 on the season while St. E’s fell to 11-3.
