The team returns every player next year after being one of the youngest teams in the section this year, with a squad composed of mostly sophomores.

The girls basketball team stayed in the playoff hunt with a section win against Connellsville Thursday night.

Sophomore guard Anna Lucarelli credited the win to the Highlanders’ hard work ethic throughout the game.

“We hustled well. We got beat on transition sometimes, but we had good attitude and avoided slumps,” Lucarelli said.

The win helped get the team to three section wins, and they have playoffs on their mind.

“We still have a shot at playoffs, so we need to work hard and get some wins,” Lucarelli said.

The Highlanders face Mount Lebanon next in a big away section game on Monday.
